Pitch Summary
- Brittany Rowe came in to ask for $200K for a 10% share in her company – Hella Awkward.
- This card game has over $600K in lifetime sales.
- Robert matched the offer and secured the deal.
A Card Game, Seriously!?

Yes, seriously! a card game, but let me hear out before deciding it for yourself. Even though I’m one of those who do not like card games, this one is different. The concept behind this great card game is that every card has a question.
So, when you’re in a group, each person picks up a card and the rest have to answer it. In total, the box contains 140+ cards, with 4 different categories. Wanna know more about the product? Read Hella Awkward Product Review.
Sharks Playing Cards!
So, Brittany asked Sharks to play a round and all of them nodded their heads. Turns out, it was Kevin who was choosing the card and guest what, his card had a question “What is the most annoying thing about me?”
Well, the rest of the Sharks just wanted this opportunity to lash themselves on Kevin, which they pretty much did. Following are their answers:
- Robert: You smell bad (brutal).
- Lori: You don’t listen to me when I’m talking.
- Daymond: The valuations..when you sleep in front of me when we’re at a dinner
- Mark: Absolutely nothing Kevin, You’re perfect.
- Kevin: He’s my best friend, I’m gonna go and kiss him!
- Diamond: He’s leaving the show.
- Mark: Exactly!???
Well yes, Mark said this, and I don’t believe it right now, but fingers crossed. And enough with the fun, let’s look at some financials of Hella Awkward.
Hella Awkward Net-Worth, Sales, Profits
Hella Awkward was launched in the middle of 2021, and since then, they haven’t really looked back. In the first year, they made around $90K, which isn’t really bad for a card game, right?
Moving forward, in 2022, they made $110K and were literally sold out of stock and had to wait for 6 months to get their product in the market again. Then in 2023, they had a sale of around $600K and now, they are projected to go over and beyond $600K. Very impressive for a card game. And as I said above, their lifetime sales are around $600K.
Also, some key features also include their presence at the outlets such as:
- In 2024 alone, Hella Awkward launched 450 doors at Target and expanded to over 520 doors in total at Target.
- They are also retailing at the Walmart
- Till now, they are present in 600 stores and confident to take this figure up to 1,000 stores by the end of this year.
Last year, they had a profit of $100K and this year, they are projected to do between $250K to $300K, wow!
Well, a major part of such huge profits goes to the profit margins. For instance, the product costs $2.80 (landed cost). And in retail, it is sold for $24.99! Not stopping here, the expansion pack – with 45 additional questions costs $12.99 and can you guess how much it costs to make? Under a dollar!

Hella is Not Alone!
Yeah, she pitched alone in the Shark Tank, but in reality, she only holds 33% of the company. The rest, her brother, and the product designer, Jane, and both of them equally hold 33% as well. Till now, her brother has pitched in $7K, while Jane has invested $3K in the company.
And the interesting bit here is that her company has sold over 50K boxes!
Hella Awkward Shark Tank Final Deals
Sharks were indeed quite happy with the product, and how revolutionary a simple idea of card game was. And, none of them were shy to make themselves heard, except for Mark and Daymond, who did not say anything, nor rejected the deal nor opted out of it. I guess, other Sharks didn’t let them speak their heart out. Anyway, it goes as follows from here.
- Kevin: 200k for 25% and takes over the distribution
- Robert: Matched the offer
- Lori: 200k for 12%
Eventually, it was Robert who came out and triumphed among all the other sharks.
Sharks | Deal Offered | Remarks |
Robert | Yes | Matched the offer |
Kevin | Yes | $200K for 25% |
Lori | Yes | $200K for 12% |
Daymond | Said nothing | N/A |
Mark | Said nothing | N/A |
My Time to Make an Assessment
In most Shark Tank pitches that were especially related to card games, I haven’t seen Sharks so excited. Well, there is always a first time, right? Anyway, I loved the product and I loved the fact that a woman was running a company so successfully in a complex niche.
Anyway, I’ve made a ritual assessment of how the company will perform in years to come. Let’s see:
Year | Revenue | Profit | Growth Factors |
2026 | $2M | $800K+ | Expansion to 1,500+ stores, strong e-commerce sales |
2027 | $3.5M | $1.4M+ | Launch of new editions, expansion packs, more online sales |
2028 | $5M | $2M+ | Expansion to big-box retailers (Target+, Walmart+, Amazon Global) |
2029 | $7M | $2.8M+ | Possible international expansion (UK, Canada, Australia) |
2030 | $10M+ | $4M+ | Digital version of the game, potential licensing deals |
